I have an 06 Dodge with the Cummins. These 'older' diesels required a CI4+ oil. There is much debate in the oil world about the qualities of the newer oils vs the older ones - specifically that the old CI4+ oils had more detergents in them, which the older engines liked better. Even though the newer oils are backwards compatible, they apparently do not have the same detergents in them. This has been the only CI4+ rated oil I can still find.
